Wherever possible, we sell our
animals as Pedigree Breeding stock. Only those that don’t make the grade
are destined for meat and the policy of the farm is to allow these animals
to grow slowly and naturally.
They live a long and contented life and reach their full potential in the
best possible circumstances.
At all times, the animals are treated with kindness and respect and reared
in a stress-free environment.
Fear and stress in an animal is well known to affect the tenderness and
flavour of the resulting meat often making it tough and with a taint. Our
welfare friendly methods produce the most tender and flavourful meat; and,
very importantly, all our beef and lamb carcases are properly hung to
enhance the succulence and flavour - which is why our customers come back
time and time again.
Our
meat is available fresh, chilled or frozen and can be obtained through
local Farmers’ Markets, direct from the farm, or by mail order.
The Beef is available as Joints, steaks, cubed beef for casseroles, mince,
lean home-made burgers and many other, different cuts. If you have a
favourite piece, just ask and we will see what we can do. You can buy it
as single joints, small boxes, or as an 1/8th of a beast. All our beef is
hung for at least 3 weeks.
Among the Lamb packs we sell are legs, shoulders, chops, best ends,
stewing lamb and Jo’s special lamb burgers with herbs! Again, you can buy
a joint just a few chops or half a lamb for the freezer, if you prefer.
We are also able to offer, from time to time, lovely large joints of
Mutton from sheep that are around 2 years old.
Mutton is enjoying a well deserved come-back. The larger joints, cooked
slowly, give a full, rich flavour and
melt-in-the-mouth tenderness. Tasters are often available at the market
stall.

All the different breeds, that we offer, have their own particular
flavours and textures. Our customers don’t just ask for ‘Lamb’ – they
discover that they prefer, perhaps, the sweet and gamey meat of the
Portland, the full, rich flavour of Jacob or the milder sweet flavour of
the Woodland.
That’s the big advantage of buying from the farm where the meat is
produced – you can be confident that we know its history from birth to
your plate!
Because we let our animals grow slowly and naturally, there are times when
we may not have the particular piece of meat that you are looking for. For
details of availability, contact us by phone on 01842 862702,
email, or visit the farm.
We can make sure that we will save you your choice cuts next time they are
available.
